The fierce battle between rebels and troops loyal to Colonel Qaddafi is ongoing in order to gain control of the port city and oil Brega, east of Tripoli, according to the television channel Al Jazeera.
The rebels have launched an offensive early in the morning on three different fronts and battles are intense and violent, say the sources.
Gaddafi opposing forces, which seem better organized and equipped military have launched rockets and shells on the positions taken by those loyal to the regime in Tripoli and forced them to retreat to the center of Brega, the sources said.
Early in the afternoon and while they were still fighting ground, a NATO aircraft bombed positions gadafistas forces, added the sources.
Al Jazeera has broadcast images of distant artillery fire and numerous rebel columns of black smoke, while explaining that Gaddafi's forces have been concentrated mainly in the vicinity of the city's industrial zone.
Aided by air strikes by aircraft of the Allied forces, rebel troops retook control, ten days ago, the city of Brega, as a bridgehead of an offensive that they should allow the collection of Sirte, the town Gaddafi's home.
But gadafistas brigades counterattacked and forced the rebels to retreat to the nearby city of Ajdabiya.

The death toll from the double suicide bombing yesterday in a Sufi shrine of Sakhi Sarwar in Punjab province, in eastern Pakistan rose to 50, while the wounded 110, police and hospital sources said.

U.S. newspapers Financial Times and Sunday Times reported this weekend that the company had obtained permission from U.S. authorities to rebuild in their platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.
In return, they said the two newspapers, BP, responsible for the biggest oil disaster in U.S. history, undertook to allow authorities access to their platforms and improve their emergency plans.

A UN plane crashed on Monday while trying to land at the airport in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, killing at least 26 people, an official said.
The aircraft lost control in heavy winds and crashed to the ground going off the track, the official of the Ministry of Health Joseph Kiboko.
At least 26 of the 32 passengers and three crew members died, he said.
"We moved to eight people to the hospital still breathing, but I do not know if they survived. Both drivers were killed, " he said.
